Six digital stamp card apps compared for 2026

What each app asks of your customers and your team, how stamps get on the card, whether it works with your till, and where its prices start.

On this page

We make NextStamp, one of the apps in this comparison. Every app gets the same questions, and they appear in alphabetical order. How we compare apps

There is no single right digital stamp card app. The right one depends on two things more than any feature list: whether you are happy for customers to install an app, and which till you take payments on. Get those two right and the shortlist usually picks itself.

We compared six apps that replace a paper stamp card for a café, salon, bakery or shop: BonusQR, Boomerangme, Loopy Loyalty, NextStamp, Square Loyalty and Stamp Me. Every fact about the other five comes from their own websites, read on 6 October 2026, and the sources are listed at the end. NextStamp is our product, and the page that explains how we compare loyalty apps sets out the rules we hold ourselves to.

Which app suits which business?

If you already take payments with Square and want points to build up at the checkout without an extra step, Square Loyalty is made for exactly that. Customers join by typing their mobile number at your Square register, on a Square invoice or at a Square Online checkout.

If you want customers to keep the card in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet while your staff scan it at the counter, Loopy Loyalty, BonusQR and Boomerangme all work that way. BonusQR has a free plan. Boomerangme goes well beyond stamp cards, with cashback, membership, coupon and gift cards in one account.

If you would rather customers ask for the stamp themselves, from a poster or a tap at the counter, and your team approves it from the till, that is how NextStamp works. Staff can also scan the customer’s card, and nothing connects to your till.

If you don’t mind customers downloading an app and you like the idea of a tag or a small device at the counter, Stamp Me does that, with one location on each plan.

The six apps side by side

The table answers the questions owners ask first. The prices are each company’s cheapest paid plan as its pricing page showed it, so read them as a starting point rather than a quote.

What to compare before you choose

Does the customer need to install anything?

Every extra step at the counter is a chance for someone to say “maybe next time”. Five of the six apps need nothing installed: the card opens in the phone’s browser or sits in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, and with Square the customer simply gives a mobile number at the checkout. Stamp Me is the exception. Its own blog says customers still need to download the Stamp Me app, create an account and join your programme, and that the wallet holds only their member code.

How does a stamp get on the card?

The usual way is for a member of staff to open the company’s app and scan the customer’s card. It’s quick, and it means a person decides every stamp. Stamp Me adds one-off codes, a tag customers tap and a small device that sits by the till. Square doesn’t need a scan at all, because points are earned as part of a Square payment.

NextStamp lets the customer start it. They scan the till poster or tap an NFC tag, the request chimes on the till, and staff approve it with one tap. A handheld barcode scanner or the phone’s camera also works when the customer shows their card. However the stamp starts, a person on your team approves it, and the card’s limits per visit and per day catch the rest.

Does it work with your till?

Square Loyalty belongs to Square’s checkout, which is its great strength if you use Square and a dead end if you don’t. The other five sit beside your till and don’t need to talk to it. Boomerangme offers an API and webhooks, and Loopy Loyalty links to Zapier and Make on some plans, which matters if you want visits to flow into a mailing list or a CRM.

What happens when you open a second location?

This is where plans differ most. Stamp Me’s plans each cover a single location. Loopy Loyalty’s Starter plan covers one, its Growth plan three and its Ultimate plan ten. Square Loyalty charges per location, priced by how many loyalty visits each location has in a month. Boomerangme’s Business plan includes ten locations. NextStamp’s Free and Starter plans cover one outlet and its Growth plan three, with more at an extra charge each; a card can work at every outlet or only the ones you tick, and each member of staff works the outlets you assign.

What does the cheapest plan leave out?

Read the plan table as well as the headline price. The limits that catch people out are the number of locations, the number of card designs and how many staff logins you get. Loopy Loyalty’s Starter plan, for example, includes one card design and three sub-users, against ten designs and fifty sub-users on Ultimate. NextStamp’s Free plan covers one outlet, one card and up to 50 customers, where Starter allows three cards and Growth ten.

BonusQR is a customer rewards app built around a personal QR code. Customers scan your QR code, create an account in one click and get their own code, which staff scan at each visit. It runs as a web app as well as on Android and iOS, and it works with Apple Wallet and Google Wallet. The company says it needs no POS integration and no extra devices.

Good fit if you want to start without paying. Its free plan has no time limit and includes unlimited customers and visits and seven kinds of scheme, from stamps to cashback. Worth knowing: the free plan includes a single manager login, so check the paid plans if several people on your team need their own.

Boomerangme issues loyalty cards as Apple Wallet and Google Wallet passes, so customers download nothing. Staff use a Scanner App in the browser on any phone, tablet or computer to add stamps or points and redeem rewards, with no special hardware or change to your till.

Good fit if you want more than a stamp card. Punch cards sit alongside cashback, membership, discount, coupon, prepaid and gift cards, and the Business plan includes ten locations and fifty managers. Worth knowing: it is the most expensive starting point in this comparison, and its three plans are called Business, Agency and Franchise, which tells you who it has in mind. It has a 14-day trial without a card.

Loopy Loyalty makes digital stamp cards that customers save in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, with no app to download. Your team uses the Stamper app on iOS or Android to scan the card, add stamps and redeem rewards, and the company also offers remote stamping from the web. Customer details are captured when people join, so you can see who comes back.

Good fit if you want a straightforward wallet stamp card from a company focused on stamp cards. It has a 15-day trial without a card, unlimited customers on every plan and room to grow to ten locations. Worth knowing: there is no free plan, and the Starter plan covers one location, one card design and three sub-users.

NextStamp is ours, so weigh this section accordingly. Customers join by scanning your poster and signing up with their name and email, and their card opens in the browser. They can add it to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, where the pass updates itself and tells them when a reward is ready. To collect a stamp, the customer scans the till poster or taps a tag, and staff approve the request with one tap. Staff can scan the customer’s card instead, and secure tap tags sign every tap so a copied link can’t ask twice.

Good fit if you want staff to approve every stamp without customers installing anything, and campaigns such as a “We miss you” gift or double stamps in quiet hours, which land on the customer’s card rather than in their inbox. The app speaks nine languages, and one card can work across several outlets. Every new business starts with 30 days of the Growth plan without a card, and the Free plan covers one outlet, one card and up to 50 customers. Worth knowing: it doesn’t connect to your till or card machine, so stamps never arrive automatically from a sale; customers do need to sign up with a name and email; and on the Free plan, new customers can’t join once you reach 50 and two weeks of grace have passed.

Square Loyalty is a points programme that runs inside Square’s checkout. Customers sign up by entering their mobile number at the register, when paying an invoice, or online at a Square checkout, and they earn points and redeem rewards at any of your participating locations. They can add a loyalty pass to Apple Wallet to track their points.

Good fit if Square already runs your counter. Nothing needs scanning, because points come with the payment, and there is a 30-day trial. Worth knowing: it is priced per location by monthly loyalty visits, so a busy shop moves up the tiers, and if you don’t take payments with Square it isn’t an option at all. The prices in the table are Square’s UK prices.

Stamp Me has its own customer app. Customers download it, create an account and join your card, then show their member code at the counter, where staff scan it with the Stamp Business app. Besides scanning, Stamp Me offers one-off codes, StampTag, which customers tap, and StampPod, a device that sits at your point of sale. It says it has specialised in digital stamp cards for more than 15 years.

Good fit if you are comfortable asking customers for an app download and want stamping hardware at the counter. The trial runs 30 days from when you publish your first card, without a card on file. Worth knowing: each plan covers one location, there is no free plan, and the wallet only holds the member code, not the stamp card itself.

Questions owners ask

Is a digital stamp card better than a paper one?

For most businesses, yes, mainly because a phone doesn’t get lost in a coat pocket and a stamp can’t be copied with a pen. You also see who comes back and how often. Our guide to switching from paper stamp cards goes through the move step by step.

Can customers cheat a digital stamp card?

It’s much harder than with paper, but no system is cheat-proof if anyone can award a stamp unseen. The safest setups keep a person in the loop: staff scan the card or approve the request, and the card limits how many stamps one visit or one day can give.

Do I need special hardware?

None of these six need it. A phone or tablet you already own runs the staff side of every one of them. Stamp Me sells optional hardware for the counter, and NextStamp works with ordinary NFC stickers or secure tap tags if you want customers to tap rather than scan.
