How NextStamp works

Add the business app to your home screen

Put NextStamp’s business app on a phone, tablet or computer so it opens full screen, straight into your business.

Updated

NextStamp’s business app runs in the browser, and you can add it to the home screen of a phone or tablet, or to a computer’s dock, so it opens like an app: full screen, straight into your business, with no browser bars. There’s nothing to download from an app store.

Only the business app installs this way. Your customers use NextStamp in their browser, and the marketing site and this help centre stay in the browser too.

Add it from Settings

The quickest way is from the device you want to add it to:

  1. Open NextStamp and sign in.
  2. Go to Settings, then under This device tap NextStamp app.
  3. If your browser can install apps directly (Chrome, Edge or Samsung Internet), tap Install NextStamp. Otherwise follow the steps shown for your browser.

The sheet also lists the steps for your other devices under On another device.

On iPhone or iPad

  1. In Safari, tap Share. If you don’t see it, tap More first.
  2. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
  3. Keep “Open as Web App” on if you see it, then tap Add.

Chrome and other browsers on iPhone can do the same from their Share button with iOS 16.4 or later. On an older iPhone or iPad, use Safari.

On Android

  1. In Chrome, tap the Menu at the top right.
  2. Tap Install app or Add to Home screen.
  3. Tap Install.

In Samsung Internet, open the menu at the bottom, tap Add page to, then Home screen, then Add. In any other browser, look for Add to Home screen or Install in its menu, or open NextStamp in Chrome and add it from there.

On a computer

In Chrome or Edge, click Install at the right end of the address bar. If it isn’t there, Chrome has Install page as app under Cast, save and share in its menu, and Edge has Install this site as an app under Apps. On a Mac with macOS Sonoma or later, Safari can add it too: choose File, then Add to Dock.

How the app behaves

  • It opens straight into your business. On Android and computers, a long press or right click on its icon also offers Give stamps.
  • It chimes for requests while it’s open. Keep it open on the till phone so customers’ requests come up with a chime. It doesn’t send notifications yet.
  • It needs a connection. When the connection drops, a bar under the top of the screen says you’re offline, and the app carries on by itself when you’re back. It doesn’t keep any data on the device.
  • It keeps its own sign-in on iPhone and iPad. The Home Screen app doesn’t share Safari’s sign-in, so you sign in once inside the app.

Printing and downloads in the app

The Home Screen app on iPhone and iPad can’t open the print dialog. When you tap Print on a poster there, NextStamp offers to copy the page link so you can print it from Safari. Downloading the Insights CSV opens the share sheet instead of a file.

Sharing a phone at the counter

If several people use the same device, sign out in Settings at the end of each shift so the next person signs in as themselves. Shared till phones and tablets has more.

Removing the app

Press and hold its icon and choose Remove App or Uninstall. Your business stays exactly as it is; you can keep using NextStamp in the browser.
