Cards, rounds, outlets, till posters, tap tags, requests, visits, tiers and the other words you’ll meet in NextStamp.

Updated

NextStamp uses a handful of words in a particular way. Here they are in one place, grouped by where you’ll meet them.

Your business and team

  • Business. The account your cards, outlets, team and customers belong to. One person can run several.
  • Outlet. A place where customers collect stamps and use rewards, such as a shop or a café. Each has a name and address. See add, edit and archive outlets.
  • Owner, admin, manager, staff. The four roles on a team, from running everything to working the till. See roles and what each can do.
  • Team. Everyone who works at your business on NextStamp, each with their own account.
  • Invitation. A link that lets one person, at one email address, join your team with the role you chose.

Cards and rewards

  • Card. Your stamp card: how many stamps fill it, what they win, its rules and its look. A business can run several.
  • Live and Draft. A live card is published and customers can join it. A draft holds changes customers don’t see until you publish.
  • Stamp. One mark on a customer’s card, approved by your team.
  • Round. One fill of the card, from its first stamp to the reward. A full card gives its reward and starts a new round.
  • Reward. What a full card wins, such as a free coffee. It can expire a set time after it’s earned.
  • Reward along the way. A smaller treat at a stamp before the card is full, earned every round.
  • Welcome stamps and welcome reward. A head start given once, when someone joins. See rewards along the way and welcome stamps.
  • Lifetime tier. A badge, such as Gold, reached after a number of stamps across every round, optionally with its own reward.
  • Terms. Your card’s own conditions, which customers accept when they join.
  • Limits. The most stamps one card can get in a visit and in a day.
  • Expiry and grace period. How long a round has before unfinished stamps reset, and the extra time before that happens.

At the counter

  • Give stamps (tab). The screen your team uses at the till to scan cards, approve requests and use rewards. It runs in the browser on any phone, tablet or computer.
  • Till poster. The QR poster by the till. Customers scan it to join and to ask for a stamp or a reward.
  • Window poster. A QR poster for the window or tables. Customers scan it to join; stamps are still asked for at the till.
  • Tap tag. A secure NFC tag at the counter. A tap asks the till for a stamp, like a till poster scan. See set up an NFC tap tag.
  • Card code. The twelve characters under the QR code on a customer’s card, in three groups of four. Your team scans it or types it at the till.
  • Request. A customer’s ask for a stamp or a reward, sent from the till poster or a tag. It waits at the till for 10 minutes.
  • Match code. The four characters shown on both the customer’s phone and the till, so your team knows whose request they’re answering.
  • Visit. Stamps within 15 minutes of each other count as one visit, for limits and for Insights.
  • Correction. Stamps added or removed by hand from a customer’s page, with a reason.
  • First scan. The setting that decides whether a new customer’s first till poster scan also asks for a stamp.

Growing your business

  • Campaign. A gift or offer that reaches customers on their card: “We miss you”, a one-off gift, double stamps or a deal.
  • Gift. A reward or bonus stamps a campaign puts on a customer’s card, with your note.
  • Deal. A combo, a new item or a price customers see on their card and at the till while it runs. Your team marks it with the stamps when someone has it.
  • Double stamps. Extra stamps the till adds by itself on the days and hours you choose.
  • Insights. Your numbers: visits, new customers, rewards, busy times and who’s slipping away.
  • Visit rhythm. How often your customers usually visit, which puts each of them in Regulars, Coming back, New, Slipping away or Gone quiet.
  • Wallet pass. A copy of a customer’s card in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet that updates by itself.
  • Review button. The “Leave a review” button that opens an outlet’s Google or Tripadvisor review form.

Your account

  • Business app. NextStamp’s screens for businesses, with Overview, Give stamps and Settings in the tab bar along the bottom. It can be added to your home screen.
  • Customer app. What customers use: My cards, Scan and Account, in their browser.
