How NextStamp works

What your customers see

The customer’s side of NextStamp: joining from your poster, their card, their code, rewards ready to use and the card’s activity.

Updated

Your customers never download an app. NextStamp opens in their phone’s browser from your poster, and everything they need sits in one account they can use at every business on NextStamp. Here is what they see, so you can help them at the counter.

Before they join

Scanning your till poster or window poster with the phone’s camera opens your card. At the top are your logo, your business and outlet name and the card’s name. Below that, the card says what it offers, for example “Collect 10 stamps: A free coffee”, with any welcome stamps, rewards along the way and tiers. Its rules come next, such as “Up to 1 stamp a visit” or “Only at Main Street”.

Someone who isn’t signed in is asked to create an account or sign in. Creating an account takes a name, email and password, or Continue with Google, and joins your card at the same time. Joining always shows your card’s terms first, and people can tick “Email me offers from” your business if they want to. It’s unticked unless they choose it.

Asking for a stamp

When a customer who already has your card scans the till poster, the screen sends a stamp request to your till by itself and shows:

  • “Your stamp request is at the till. Show staff this code:”
  • a large four-character code, which also appears on your till, so your team can match the two
  • “Waiting for approval…”, with a Cancel request link

Once your team approves it, the phone says “Stamp added!” and the card fills in. If they say no, it shows “Not approved at the till” with the reason your team picked. Stamp requests from the till poster explains the till side.

After an approval, a card that asks for reviews may show “Enjoying” your business with a button to review you on Google or Tripadvisor, and Not now. See ask for Google and Tripadvisor reviews.

My cards

Customers find all their cards under My cards. Rewards ready to use come first, with their use-by dates. Then their cards, one at a time: they swipe sideways between them, and under the card in view are its progress, such as “3 of 10 stamps · 7 more to A free coffee”, and Show card, with a note when a gift has arrived, double stamps are on or the stamps have a deadline, and the card’s deals. A card to the side with a reward waiting shows a gift badge. Your rewards along the way show under the card in stamp order, and the card names each reward under its stamp unless you’ve turned that off in the card designer.

A card’s own screen

Tapping a card opens its screen:

  • Show card: a QR code with its twelve-character code underneath, for your team to scan at the till.
  • Ready to use: rewards they can use now.
  • Rewards on this card: each reward along the way and the one for a full card, collected, next or later. When you’ve changed the card since their round began, a note says what their next card brings, because the round they’re on keeps its stamps and rewards.
  • Milestones: your lifetime tiers, if you have any, and how far they are from each.
  • About this card: the description, rules and terms, and the date they joined.
  • Contact your business: the email, phone and website from your business details.
  • Leave a review, if your outlets link a Google or Tripadvisor page.
  • Activity: every stamp, reward and correction in plain words, such as “+1 stamp” or “Used A free coffee”.
  • Remove from my cards, which closes the card until they scan your poster again.

Apple Wallet and Google Wallet

On iPhone, iPad and Safari on a Mac, the card screen offers Add to Apple Wallet, and on Android Add to Google Wallet. The pass updates by itself as stamps are added and can alert them when a reward is ready or a gift lands. Customers who don’t add it keep their card in the browser. How wallet passes work has the details.

Deadlines and offers

If your card has expiry, its deadline shows on the card, the till and the pass as “Stamps last until …”, followed by a last-chance note during the grace period. Campaign gifts appear on the card with your note, double stamps show as a badge while they’re on, and a deal shows with its photo, price and hours, on the scan screen too.
