Stamp requests from the till poster
A customer scans the till poster, the request chimes on your till, and your team matches the code and approves it or says no.
The till poster lets customers ask for their own stamp. They scan it, a request arrives at your till with a chime, and someone on your team approves it with one tap. Nobody has to handle the customer’s phone, and nothing is stamped until your team says yes.
The customer’s side
- The customer scans the till poster with their phone’s camera.
- If they already have your card, the screen sends the request by itself (“Sending your stamp request to the till…”). A new customer joins first; whether their first scan also asks depends on your First scan setting.
- The phone shows “Your stamp request is at the till. Show staff this code:”, a large four-character code and “Waiting for approval…”.
- When your team answers, the phone shows “Stamp added!”, or “Not approved at the till” with the reason.
A customer can also ask to use a reward from the same screen: under Ready to use, each reward has a button that sends a reward request instead.
Your team’s side
The request opens the customer sheet on your till by itself, with two rising notes and a buzz on phones that vibrate. It shows:
- the four-character code, with “Match the code on their phone.”
- what they asked for: “Asked for 1 stamp”, or “Wants to use” and the reward
- how many more are waiting after them, if any
Check the code matches the customer’s phone, then tap Approve 1 stamp (or Approve and the reward name). On the Give stamps tab, pressing Enter approves too. To say no, choose a reason under Or say no, and tell them why; the customer’s phone shows it.
The sheet says “No longer waiting: answered on another till, cancelled or timed out.” if someone else got there first.
Which devices hear requests
Requests go to the devices working that poster’s outlet: any device where someone on your team has opened the Give stamps tab for that outlet. The sheet opens over whatever business screen is showing, not just the Give stamps tab, and other tabs show a badge on Give stamps with the number waiting.
A phone that never opened the Give stamps tab is never asked. On one that has, Stop requests on this device in the sheet makes it stop until the Give stamps tab is opened there again. The chime only plays once someone has tapped or pressed a key on the page, which browsers require before any sound.
Waiting and timing out
If a sheet is closed without an answer, the request moves to Waiting on the till and doesn’t pop up again. A request stays open for 10 minutes. After that it closes by itself, and the customer’s phone says “That request timed out”.
One request at a time
Each card has one live request at a time, at one outlet. If the customer asks again at another outlet, or your team there gives them stamps, the request left behind is cancelled. If a request is waiting when you scan the same customer’s card, the sheet says so, and giving stamps answers the request.
A reloaded page never asks twice, and a customer who sends lots of requests quickly is told to wait a moment.
When a request is refused
The card’s rules still apply to every approval. If a stamp would break the card’s limit per visit or per day, or the card doesn’t work at this outlet, the customer’s phone says so before the request is sent, and your team won’t see it. See stamp limits per visit and per day and why didn’t I get a stamp?
A card set to Only secure tags ask for stamps sends nothing from its till poster: the screen asks the customer to tap the tag at the counter or show their card.
Posters are covered in print and manage your posters, and tags that do the same without the camera in set up an NFC tap tag.
