Why didn’t I get a stamp?

The messages you may see when a stamp doesn’t arrive, what each one means, and what to do next.

For customers · Updated

A stamp on NextStamp only lands when someone at the business approves it, and every card has its own rules about how many stamps you can collect. When a stamp doesn’t arrive, your phone says why. Find the message you saw below.

You’ve had your stamp for this visit

Most cards give one stamp a visit. Stamps asked for within 15 minutes of each other count as the same visit, so a second request straight after the first is refused with “You’ve had your stamp for this visit.”

If a card allows several stamps a visit, you may see “Only 2 more this visit.” instead: ask again for no more than that, or ask the staff to add them from your card.

You’ve had this card’s stamps for today

Cards can also cap the stamps you collect in a day. “You’ve had this card’s 5 stamps for today.” means you’ve reached it. The day runs from midnight to midnight where the business is, so you can collect again tomorrow.

Just a moment before the next stamp

The card was stamped a few seconds ago. Wait a minute, then ask again if you’re owed another.

Too many requests

“Too many requests. Wait a moment, then try again.” appears after lots of requests in a short time. Wait a minute before asking again.

Not approved at the till

Someone at the till said no to your request. Their reason shows under the message, for example “Already stamped for this visit” or “Wrong card or customer”. If you think it’s a mistake, ask them at the counter. They can add a stamp from your card.

That request timed out

A request waits at the till for 10 minutes. If nobody answers it in that time, it closes and your phone says “That request timed out”. Ask again when you’re at the till, or show your card so the staff can add the stamp themselves.

Stamp taken back

Staff can undo a stamp shortly after giving it, for example when it went to the wrong card. The reason they chose shows under the message, and the card’s activity lists it too.

Code not active

The poster or tag you scanned is paused, replaced or no longer in use, or the business has stopped taking stamps on this card for now. Ask a member of staff for a current code.

This card isn’t offered at this outlet

Some cards only work at some of a business’s places. The card’s rules say where, for example “Only at Main Street”. Collect your stamps, and use your rewards, at those places.

This card starts or ended on a date

A card that runs between two dates says “This card starts on 1 Dec.” before it opens and “This card ended on 24 Dec.” afterwards. Stamps can only be collected while it runs.

Your stamps reset

Some cards give you a set time to fill them. The deadline shows on your card as “Stamps last until …”, and near the end you’ll see a last-chance note. If a round resets before you fill it, the stamps on it go, but rewards you’ve already earned stay. Use a reward you’ve earned explains how long rewards last.

Still missing a stamp?

Ask the staff at the business first: they can see your card and add a missed stamp as a correction.
