Ask for Google and Tripadvisor reviews

Link each outlet’s review form, and a “Leave a review” button reaches customers on their card, fairly and never for a reward.

Updated

NextStamp can put a “Leave a review” button in front of every customer, on the card they already open to collect stamps. It opens your Google or Tripadvisor review form directly, so a happy regular is one tap from writing a few words. Everyone is asked the same way, and nothing is ever given for a review.

Review links belong to outlets, because each place has its own Google Business Profile and Tripadvisor listing. Owners and admins set them:

  1. Go to Settings and, under Loyalty cards, tap Reviews.
  2. With more than one outlet, choose the Outlet.
  3. Paste the Google review link and, if you have one, the Tripadvisor page.
  4. Tap Test: open the review form to check each link opens the form, then tap Save links.

Each field has a Where to find it guide. In short:

  • Google. In your Google Business Profile, choose Ask for reviews and copy the link, which looks like g.page/r/…/review. A Place ID, or a Google address that carries one, works too. Share links and plain map pins open the place rather than the review form, so NextStamp refuses them and says where to find the right one.
  • Tripadvisor. Paste any page of your listing, such as its reviews page. NextStamp turns it into the listing’s own review form. Area pages without a listing aren’t accepted.

The Reviews row in Settings then shows which platforms are linked, or “Linked at 2 of 3 outlets” when some aren’t.

Choose which cards ask

Every card has a Reviews section in the card editor, where Ask customers for a review is off until you tick it. It lists the outlets where the card works and which platforms each links. If none of them links a platform yet, the editor says customers won’t see the button. Like limits, this setting applies to everyone as soon as you publish.

Where customers see the button

  • On the card’s own screen, under Leave a review, with the outlet they visited last first. With several outlets they choose Which place?.
  • After the till approves a stamp or reward, on the scan screen: “Enjoying” your business, with a button for each platform and Not now.
  • On their Apple Wallet or Google Wallet pass, for up to three outlets.

The button goes straight to Google or Tripadvisor. Customers write the review there, under their own account.

When customers are asked

The prompt after a stamp follows the same rules for everyone:

  • only on cards that ask for reviews, at outlets with a link
  • not in the first 12 hours after joining
  • then it rests for 60 days after they tap a review button or Not now

It never depends on how much someone spends, how often they come or what they might say.

Why nothing is given for a review

Google and Tripadvisor both forbid rewarding reviews and asking only happy customers, and they can remove reviews that break the rule. So NextStamp never ties a stamp, reward, limit or campaign to a review, and no screen can target people who might leave a good one. Read the platforms’ own rules in Google’s review policy and Tripadvisor’s guidance for businesses.

NextStamp also checks what you write for customers in the card editor, campaigns and the poster and card designers. When the wording offers something for a review, or asks only happy customers for one, a note appears on that screen so you can reword it. It never stops you saving or publishing.

Counting taps

Insights shows taps on the review buttons, per platform, not reviews: nobody can see whether a customer finished writing one. A customer counts once per outlet, platform and day. See read your numbers in Insights. To add or edit outlets, see add, edit and archive outlets.
