Run a deal on a combo or new item
Show a combo, a new item or a price on customers’ cards and at the till while it runs, and mark it with the stamps when someone has it.
A deal puts something you sell in front of your regulars while it runs: a coffee and a muffin for one price, say, or half price on a new cake on Tuesday afternoons. NextStamp doesn’t take payments, so your till charges the deal as it always would. What NextStamp does is put the deal where your customers look and count each one your team marks. The loyalty deals page shows a café’s deal from its poster to its customers’ phones.
Set one up
- In Campaigns, tap New campaign, pick Deal and the card, then Create and set it up.
- Give it a Name your customers will read, such as “Coffee & Muffin”. The Ideas under the name are names other owners in your trade start from. Fill in What’s in it (optional), for example “Any regular coffee with a blueberry muffin”.
- Under The deal, write the Price or offer the way customers should read it, in up to 12 characters: “2 for 1”, “Half price” or your own price. Then add any Small print (optional), such as “Excludes large drinks”, and a Photo (optional).
- Choose whether Each customer can have it As often as they like or Once, and how many Extra stamps when they have it, from 0 to 3.
- Under When it runs, pick the days, All day or Between… two times, the First day and an optional Last day. Today only, This week and No end date set the dates in one tap.
- If you have two or more outlets, Where it runs keeps it to the outlets you tick. Otherwise it runs everywhere its card works. Who it’s for can keep it to some tiers or to customers with a number of visits: only they see it and can have it.
- Tap Start deal.
Times are in your business’s timezone, and the preview next to the form shows the deal exactly as a customer’s phone will. Up to 5 deals can be on at once across your business.
What customers see
- Right after someone scans your till poster, the deal sits under the code they show your team, with “Having it? Say so at the till.” Someone who hasn’t joined your card yet sees it above the card they could join, with “Join the card to get it.”
- In the app it shows under the card in My cards and on the card’s own screen, with when it’s on: “On now, until 17:00”, “Today from 14:00”, or the days it runs.
- A card saved in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet shows it on the front and the back. When an iPhone suggests the card near one of your outlets, the suggestion names the deal.
Once a customer has had a deal that’s once per customer, it leaves their scan screen and their card says “You’ve had this one”.
Mark it at the till
While a deal is on, the till shows a banner along the lines of “On now: Coffee & Muffin until 17:00.” When your team opens a customer’s card, the sheet asks whether they’re having it, with a switch beside the deal. Turn the switch on, then approve or add the stamps as usual: the deal is marked with them and its extra stamps go on top. Leave it off and nothing about the deal is recorded.
NextStamp checks the deal again as the stamps land. If it has just ended, doesn’t run at that outlet, isn’t for that customer, or the customer already had a once-only deal, the stamps go on without it and the sheet tells your team why. A request the customer sent while the deal was on still counts when it’s approved a few minutes later.
The extra stamps behave like a double-stamps bonus. They don’t use up the card’s limits per visit or per day, and on a card whose reward has to be used before the next round they stop at the last stamp. More on that in stamp limits per visit and per day.
Wallet alerts
Starting a deal sends one alert to cards saved in Google Wallet, such as “New deal: Coffee & Muffin”, with the days and hours. Cards in Apple Wallet change quietly instead: Apple keeps lock-screen alerts for news that can’t wait, and every NextStamp business shares one Apple certificate. A card also gets no deal alert if it was added to a wallet before the words beside the button mentioned deals, and no card gets more than one campaign alert a day. Read more in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet passes.
Results
A deal’s page counts Times had, each time your team marked it, and Customers, how many different people had it, next to the Wallet alerts it sent. The takings stay on your own till, so a deal your team forgets to mark doesn’t show up here.
Pause or end
Pause hides the deal from customers and from the till until you Resume. End it stops it for good and moves it to Past. A deal with a last day ends by itself after it.
The other kinds of campaign are in bring customers back with campaigns.
