Shared till phones and tablets
Set up a phone or tablet the whole team uses at the counter, and keep each person’s account and customers’ data safe on it.
Many businesses keep one phone or tablet by the till for the whole team. NextStamp works well on a shared device, as long as the person working signs in as themselves and signs out when they’re done.
Set up the device
- Open NextStamp in the device’s browser and sign in.
- Add the business app to the home screen, so it opens straight into the till. See add the business app to your home screen.
- Open the Give stamps tab and, with several outlets, choose the one this device sits at. The device remembers it.
- Tap the screen once and check the volume is up, so requests arrive with a chime.
The device keeps its outlet whoever signs in, so the next person doesn’t need to choose it again.
One person, one account
Each person on your team signs in with their own account, which you create with an invitation. It means:
- the till records who approved each stamp, which shows in Insights under Team at the till
- each person only sees what their role and outlets allow
- when someone leaves, removing them from the team stops their access at once, on every device
At the start and end of a shift
- Start: sign in as yourself. On the business app’s sign-in, use your email and password, or Continue with Google.
- End: go to Settings, scroll to Account and tap Sign out. The next person signs in as themselves.
What stays on the device
The business app keeps no customer data on the device. Pages load fresh from NextStamp each time, and when the connection drops it shows an offline screen rather than anything saved. Signing out leaves nothing of the last person’s behind except the outlet this device works at.
iPhone and iPad
The Home Screen app on iPhone and iPad keeps its own sign-in, separate from Safari’s. Signing out in the app doesn’t sign anyone out of Safari, and the other way round. Google sign-in can’t complete inside the iPhone Home Screen app, so people who only use Google should sign in with the app open in Safari on that device, or set up NextStamp in Safari instead.
A phone that shouldn’t get requests
A device that has opened the Give stamps tab hears customers’ requests on every screen. For a phone that isn’t at the counter, such as a manager’s own phone, tap Stop requests on this device when a request sheet opens there. Opening the Give stamps tab on it turns them back on.
When a device is lost
If a shared device goes missing, the quickest step is for each person who used it to change their password: changing it signs out every other device on that account. Signing in, passwords and Google shows where. Then remove anyone who has left from Settings → Team. See how NextStamp keeps accounts secure.
