Delete your account or your business

Delete a business you own or your NextStamp account for good: how to confirm, what is erased, and the little that stays.

Updated

You can delete your NextStamp account yourself at any time, and an owner can delete a business they own. Both are permanent: everything is erased, not hidden. This article explains each one, in the order an owner does them.

Delete a business you own

Only the business’s owner can do this.

  1. In the business app, open Settings and tap Delete business in the Business group.
  2. Read what goes. The page counts the customers, cards, outlets and team members of the business.
  3. Type the business’s name to confirm (capitals don’t matter), enter Your password, and tick “I understand … can’t be brought back.”
  4. Tap Delete and the business’s name.

If your account only uses Google, there’s no password to enter. You need to have signed in within the last day instead; otherwise the page asks you to sign in with Google again first.

What deleting a business does

The business closes the moment you confirm:

  • nobody on the team can open it again, and it leaves everyone’s business list
  • its posters, tap tags and till stop working, and its campaigns stop
  • its customers’ cards leave their My cards, and a card saved in Apple Wallet shows as void, and one in Google Wallet as inactive

Then everything the business holds is erased for good, usually within minutes: its customers and their cards, every stamp, reward and gift, consent records, its cards and posters, outlets, campaigns, Insights, review taps, logo and team. If some customers keep its card in a wallet, the erase waits up to 6 hours so their phones can show the card as void first.

Nobody loses their NextStamp account. Customers keep their cards from other businesses, your team keeps their places at other businesses, and you keep your account and any other business you own.

Delete your account

  1. Open the page: in the business app, Settings → Delete account at the bottom; in the customer app, the Account screen, then Delete account.
  2. Read what it does, enter Your password, and tick “I understand my account and cards can’t be brought back.”
  3. Tap Delete my account.

Google-only accounts confirm with a recent sign-in, as above.

If you own a business that’s still open, the page lists it with a link to delete it first: a business can’t be left without its owner, and ownership can’t be handed over yet. Once every business you own is deleted, come back to delete your account.

What deleting your account does

It can’t be undone. Deleting the account:

  • signs you out everywhere, and you can’t sign in to it again
  • deletes every card you hold, with its stamps, rewards and history
  • deletes your name, email and everything else each business you joined holds about you, including your consent choices
  • takes you off any team you work on

What stays names nobody: totals in each business’s Insights, such as how many stamps it gave in a week, and counts of taps on its review buttons. If you worked on a team, the stamps you gave customers stay on their cards, recorded against a team member who no longer exists.

If you work on someone else’s team

Deleting your account takes you off every team. If you only want to leave one business, ask its owner or an admin to remove you instead; your account stays. See change a role or remove someone.

Before you delete

  • Use your rewards. Rewards on your cards go with the account.
  • Changed your mind about emails? You don’t need to delete your account to stop offers: switch them off per business under Offers by email on the Account screen.
  • Only pausing a business? You don’t need to delete it: pause its posters and tap tags, and archive its outlets. Customers keep their cards and rewards.

What happens to your customers’ data

When a customer deletes their account, their card and everything on it goes from your business too; you keep only your Insights totals. See customer data: what’s kept and who sees it. Customers can find the steps in manage or delete your account.
