Add lifetime tiers to a card
Badges your regulars earn from all the stamps they’ve ever collected, each with an optional reward when they reach it.
Lifetime tiers are badges for your regulars. They count every stamp a customer has collected on a card, across every round they’ve filled, so someone who has filled the card five times keeps climbing even as each round starts again. Reaching a tier can come with a reward. For the thinking behind tiered programmes, see the guide to tiered loyalty programmes.
Add a tier
Tiers sit on the card’s page, below the card editor, under Lifetime tiers. Owners and admins can change them.
- Open Overview, tap the card under Loyalty cards, and scroll to Lifetime tiers.
- Tap Add a tier.
- Fill in:
- Tier name, up to 24 characters, such as “Gold”.
- Lifetime stamps, the total that reaches it, such as 50.
- Reward when they reach it, such as “A free cake”.
- Expires, how long they have to use that reward.
- Tap Add tier.
Tiers save straight away: unlike the rest of the card, they don’t wait for you to publish.
Each tier shows in the list as its name and the stamps it takes, for example “Gold after 50 stamps”, with its reward and expiry underneath.
What customers see
Customers see your tiers before they join (“Gold after 50 stamps in total”). Once they reach one, the tier shows beside their progress on the card and at the till, where your team sees it as a chip next to the customer’s name. If they’ve added the card to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, the pass alerts them: “You reached Gold”.
The tier’s reward lands on their card like any other, under Ready to use, with its use-by date.
Customers already past a new tier
If you add a tier that some customers have already passed, they get it with their next stamp. Nobody gets it retroactively without visiting, and nobody misses out.
Change or retire a tier
Tap a tier to change its name, stamps, reward or expiry, then tap Save tier.
Retire this tier takes it away for the future: nobody new reaches it, and everyone who already has it keeps the badge and any reward they earned.
Setting sensible thresholds
Tiers work best when the first one is reachable within a few months for a regular, and the later ones mark real loyalty. Counting in stamps keeps it simple: if your card takes 10 stamps to fill, a tier at 50 means five full cards.
Tiers belong to one card. If you run more than one card, each has its own. See run more than one card.
