Choose the outlets where a card works
Let a card work at every outlet or only the ones you tick, for its stamps and its rewards alike.
When you run more than one outlet, each card can work at all of them or only some. It’s the card’s own choice, so you might have a card for every outlet and another for your new shop alone. Where a card works covers its stamps and its rewards alike.
Choose the outlets
In the card editor, the Where it works section appears once you have two or more outlets. Owners and admins can change it.
- Every outlet, and any you open later. The default. A new outlet picks the card up as soon as you add it.
- Only the outlets you tick. Untick the first box, then tick each outlet where customers can collect stamps and use this card’s rewards.
Publish the card for the choice to take effect. Like the limits, where a card works always comes from the live card, so a change applies to every customer as soon as you publish, not just to new rounds.
What customers see
Customers see where a card works before they join, with its other rules: “Only at Main Street and Market Square”. The same line stays on their card under About this card. Their wallet pass comes up near those outlets only, if you’ve pinned them on the map: on the lock screen in Apple Wallet, as a nearby reminder in Google Wallet.
At an outlet where the card doesn’t work, a stamp request or a scan at the till is refused with “This card isn’t offered at this outlet.”
Taking an outlet off a live card
Publishing a card away from an outlet asks you to confirm first. The confirmation names the outlets that stop giving stamps and taking this card’s rewards straight away. When you publish:
- the card’s posters and tap tags at those outlets are paused
- requests for this card waiting at those outlets’ tills end
Customers keep their cards, stamps and rewards. They collect and spend them at the outlets where the card still works.
Posters and tags follow the card
Posters and tap tags only go up where a card works. Creating a till poster for an outlet the card isn’t offered at is refused with “This card isn’t offered at that outlet. Add it under Where it works first.”
On the card’s page, the Posters section also names any outlet where the card works but has no working till poster yet, with a button to create one. Print and manage your posters explains the rest.
Rewards and outlets
A reward is used wherever its card works. If a customer asks to use a reward at an outlet where it can’t be used, the till lists it with the reason instead of a Use button. Some rewards can only be used where they were earned, and the till says “That reward can only be used where it was earned.”
Outlets and your team
Where a card works is separate from where each person on your team works. A member of staff assigned to Main Street only sees requests at Main Street, whichever cards work there. See choose who works at each outlet, and for adding and archiving outlets, add, edit and archive outlets.
